Mission Viejo, CA—A bike shop’s reckless behavior in traffic caused a crash with an oncoming car. Investigators said that the accident was mostly the result of improper application of protective gear. While there was a wide array of blinking lights inside the bike shop, none of them were set to flash despite fresh batteries and good-range visibility. Similarly, despite a large variety of reflective clothing, none of it was arranged to be visible outside of the shop’s windows. Despite the presence of literally dozens of helmets, not one was properly attached to the outside of the building. A law enforcement officer on the scene simply shook his head slowly and said, “Bicycles…we tell them over and over that they cause accidents. When you put this many under one roof, this is simply bound to happen.”
